The 9/11 Hero Climb is a community event that honors the victims of 9/11 and raises funds for local first responders. The event takes place on September 11th at a local High School or College stadium. At the event participants join area first responders to climb 2,071 steps to symbolize the 110 floors and 2,071 steps to the top of the Twin Towers. For those that cannot climb, we have a 5k and 1 mile walk on the track at the stadium. The event takes place at 8:46 AM, the same time the first plane hit the World Trade Center. All proceeds to Berrien County Fire and Public Safety Departments to replace worn firefighting gear and educational programs that may not be included in the annual budget.
